First leg of my travel is complete...flight to New York was pretty painless, got a good hour of sleep on the plane. Missed the snack cart though, dang! Now I have about 8 hours to kill in the JFK airport, which I admit could be worse, but thanks to my strategically packed carry on, I have lots to entertain me. That, and of course my favorite hobby - people watching! I think airport people watching could be among the best. Can't help but wonder where people are coming from/going to, what their story is, etc. And I'll admit it...I'm fascinated by what I'll refer to as "airport fashion".
First major fail of the trip...I left my camera memory card in my laptop at home...whoops! Looks like that, along with shampoo will be among the first items to purchase! Surprisingly few tears have been shed on my part the last few days (with a couple notable exceptions :) ) - I think I have moved past being sad about leaving and am just ready to begin this new adventure! Enough public rambling for me today...promise my next post will have more interesting content, and perhaps some pictures!

8 days to go...
To start things off, I really hope that I can manage to keep my thoughts/postings decipherable during this whole adventure. As it stands now, my mind is in 27 different places at once as I prepare to head out east. I've been thinking and planning this for so long, it is surreal that I am 8 days away from the actual beginning! What started out as my crazy ramblings after an amazing trip in March of 2009 has metabolized into a huge first step in a new direction in my life. Many thanks to my friends and family who have given me the strength and encouragement to begin something new...I couldn't do this without you! Now...time to pack, move, repack, and start saying farewell to Chicago for a little while...
